LEADER OF THE AMERICAN ASHCAN SCHOOL & NOTED ART TEACHER
Famous as the leader of "The Eight," a group of gritty Realist rebels who banded together in a 1908 exhibition set against the stuffiness of academy art, Robert Henri (1865-1929) was a prolific painter as well as a highly respected teacher.
That photo is not of Robert Henri of the Aschan School, but of painter Robert (Bob) Henry, who is married to fellow painter Selina Trieff.
