Üzeyir Lokman ÇAYCI, Paris...N'OUBLIEZ PAS QUE LE MONDE N'EST PAS TEL QUE VOUS LE VOYEZ

Do not forget that the world is not such as you see it THE NETWORK OF INDIFFERENCES Note your own attitudes. Do not issue a circular on everything you do The more numerous your attachments, the more difficult it will be to move Do not forget that your internal blossoming will shed light on your discoveries more than your external, physical development. WALLS BUILT BY ACCIDENT Your internal life could be shaken when your lies feed on your desires The regularity of your steps directed by others could make your identity recognizable again Your actions directed into the external world that follow from unbalanced inventions you've formed within can constitute obstacles to your personal expectations and development. THOSE WHO HAVE NOT BEEN BORN ARE NOT AWARE OF THEIR INTERNAL HUNGER Responsibilities cannot be taken on due to assumptions emanating from other people Your choices have to belong to you - you should not take unthinking steps; impulsive potency can be destructive, ill-considered decisions can cause grief and bitterness... Do not forget. A HEART WITHOUT INTROSPECTION, A SOUL WITHOUT A GUIDE Your short-sighted steps on an unfamiliar path with an invisible exit could intrigue nearby dogs Something unfamiliar could come from an unknown direction Since you cannot go into the infinite, decide from here and now what you want to make. Do not forget that the world is not such as you see it. DANSES MARTIALES + Martial Dances + Danzas de guerra + .....

Martial Dances We live in strange times, my brother men make money with war dances and occupation... Do you not see the bombardments and the pillaging? Under the boot you are worn out, these days the sweat of your brow no longer serves you! Tanks come from distant lands passing down your streets demanding to know why you were born! And you can say nothing. Soon, if this continues, it will be the course of progress to be denied learning. One speaks of the rights of man here and there. Do not believe those rumors! You see that nothing is in place now! We live in strange times my brother, arms dealing, construction governing the land. Is it so difficult to understand? They sell the merchandise of war! Come listen to my counsel. Don't marry, it is unsupportable to suffer the massacre of your children. The success of your affairs depends on producing fictitious enemies to menace... In this manner they take over small countries one after the other under the pretext of saving them. While you fight amongst yourselves others consume your underground resources. What should I tell you; do these times plant sorrow in your hearts? Be a little understanding! Increase the number of fratricidal wars, divide your people further to make the lives of the invaders easier. Do not forget that to destroy love requires only this: Live in a society without love and don't educate anyone... Live in the clarity of obscurity, depend only on yourself! The sun rises and sets on time... the throats of cocks are cut that sing before the hour! We live in strange times my brother, men make money with war dances and occupation... Do you not see the bombardments and the pillaging? By Uzeyir Lokman CAYCI Paris, 17.03.2003 Traduit par by Yakup YURT en français French free verse translated into English free verse by Joneve McCormick - 2003

NORTHAMPTON ACADEMY OF MUSIC - Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice
Northampton Academy of Music Theatre is launching its new Women's Initiative on Saturday, March 26 at 8 p.m. with a SWAN Day production of Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice directed by Linda McInerney with original music by Paula Kimper.
The original tale of Orpheus and Eurydice focuses on the great Greek musician Orpheus who was so overcome with grief by his wife's death that he journeyed to the Underworld to get her back. He was able to charm Hades and Persephone with his music, and they told him that he could lead Eurydice out of the Underworld on one condition - he had to walk in front of her and he could not look back until both of them were completely in the upper world. Unfortunately, Orpheus turned around as soon as he was on solid ground, and so Eurydice had to return to the Underworld forever.
Sarah Ruhl, a playwright who won a MacArthur "genius" Fellowship in 2006 at age 32, tells this story from Eurydice's point of view. It is a meditation on loss, but it is also full of warmth, humor, and Ruhl's unique theatrical sensibility.

FIVE WOMEN PLAYWRIGHTS IN 24 HOUR PLAY FESTIVAL IN TROY, NEW YORK
Playwrights, directors, designers, crew and actors from both the Berkshires and the Capital Region will mount five new short works by five women playwrights in the 24 Hour Capital Region/Berkshires Theatre Project on Saturday, March 26 at 8 p.m. in the Arts Center of the Capital Region, 265 River Street, Troy, NY.

Kristen van Ginhoven (WAM Theatre), Kat Koppett (MOPCO) and Jill Rafferty-Weinisch (Arts Center of the Capital Region) joined forces to kick off this colossal artistic adventure. WAM Theatre produces theatrical events with a focus on women theatre artists and/or stories of women and girls, and they donate a portion of the proceeds to organizations that benefit women and girls. When Koppett suggested the 24-hour Theater Project to van Ginhoven, she agreed, with one stipulation - that all five playwrights be women.

How it works: On Friday evening, March 25, five playwrights will receive the number of actors they are writing for and a theme and they will then have 12 hours to write a short script. The following morning, Saturday, March 26, directors, actors, stage managers, designers and technical staff will gather and rehearse those new scripts. At 8:00pm on Saturday night, those five new scripts will be shared with the public. The playwrights will be: Linda Bidwell Delaney (Capital Region); Kat Koppett (Capital Region); Nahal Navidar (Capital Region); Jamuna Yvette Sirker (Berkshires); Susan Dworkin (Berkshires).

Location: The Arts Center of the Capital Region, 265 River Street, Troy, NY 12180-3215
