VILLA “RODOPI”, ARGOSTOLI, KEFALONIA, GREECE
Following a successful figurative period, during which Costas Evangelatos presented significant exhibits of his work at events in Athens, Salonica, Lesvos, and Rodes, and on the tail of a series of international participation in Art and Cultural venues, including New York and major European cities, where he presented publications of art and poetry, and lectured on aesthetic issues, Costas will exhibit his new work in his native island of Kefallonia.
This summer, at the Contemporary Art Gallery Villa “RODOPI”,7, Mesolora St. and Byron Ave, Argostoli, Kefalonia, the following expositions will take place: “The Art Collection ”, this includes a choice of figurative works; paintings, photos and engravings, donated by Greek and international artists. Costas Evangelatos will present his exhibit entitled “Art signals”. The Opening will be on 13th August, 21:00
At 10 p.m., on the outdoor “Mov Skini” (mauve stage), a theatrical performance, by the Greek- American actor of stage and cinema, Spiros-Andreas Papadatos will take place. This will be the first time Spiros-Andreas will be performing in his native island. He will perform a Shakespearean soliloquy from Hamlet, “this sullied flesh”. Born in Kefallonia, and raised in New York, he studied English Literature, Theatre History, and Acting. He first appeared here in Greece, in the critically acclaimed film, UNITAS, directed by Kosti Bassogianni and co-staring with Katerina Savrani. He went on to star on stage, while working on other films, such as Underneath Her Make Up, by Vangelis Seitanidis, Deception Game, by Christos Megarochiotis, which will premiere at this year’s International Film Festival of Thessaloniki. Further, he worked alongside director Carlos Zonaras, as Art Director on the film Charlie’s Son.
The customary reception will follow at the old florist garden, under the full moon of Aug. 13th. The expo will hold through the 5 th of Sept., 2011.
